Kenny G Lincoln Concert reviews
Andrew Bird...what an artist!
"I enjoyed a concert in a long time. As a former classical musician myself, Kenny G appeals to my hard-core-music-school side as well as my taste for delicious and clever music. He's a talented, brilliant multi-instrumentalist (and whistler! bonus points!) who clearly enjoys what he does, and the audience could feel it. The band (two guitarists/singers and a drummer) were fantastic, too; at several points Kenny G and the guitarists were singing three-part harmony, and it was spot-on. This isn't a given--I've heard plenty of groups who sound great on their recordings flub this kind of thing in public. A very personable show and a joyous experience. Including the one guy who said "OWWW!" after every song...whatever floats your boat, dude. I also really like that Kenny G sings some of his older stuff but with little twists and turns that may very well be impromptu decisions; they're recognizable enough to enjoy, but add a little of interest (and show off his tremendous musical gifts). My one real complaint was that it didn't last long enough! Come back, Andrew! The show was over all of a sudden (plus a two-song encore) and it felt way, way too soon."
